Häggen i februari

Since it’s the middle of winter the snow-covered bird cherry is of course still dormant.

After taking a few photos of the tree I spent the rest of my walk watching winter birds along the road from the bird cherry. That day I saw great tits (Parus major), Eurasian blue tits (Parus caeruleus or Cyanistes caeruleus depending on who you ask), European greenfinches (Carduelis chloris) and of course some common magpies (Pica pica) and crows (Corvus corone cornix).

Here in the small town of Älvsbyn we’ve had a huge amount of snow this winter. Snow is pretty and it brightens up what would otherwise be a dark season, but now we have quite enough snow. No more. That’s enough.

  1. what beautiful photos, as lovely as snow looks when it is clean and white I can imagine that it will be nice to see spring, hopefully in a month or two, your bird cherry looks lovley in the snow, I like the snow caught up in the branches, like clouds or candyfloss, Frances

  2. What a winter wonderland you live in – and your little birds must be very hardy.
I look forward to seeing your bird cherry waking up in the spring.
Here it is so mild that the trees hardly sleep at all…
    All the best 🙂
